【摘要】:Thispracticeisusefulasascreeningbasisforacceptanceorrejectionoftransparenciesduringmanufacturingsothatunitswithidentifiableflawswillnotbecarriedtofinalinspectionforrejectionatthattime.Thispracticemayalsobeemployedasago-nogotechniqueforacceptanceorrejectionofthefinishedproduct.Thispracticeissimple,inexpensive,andeffective.Flawsidentifiedbythispractice,aswithotheropticalmethods,arelimitedtothosewhichproducetemperaturegradientswhenelectricallypowered.Anyothertypeofflaw,suchasminorscratchesparalleltothedirectionofelectricalflow,arenotdetectable.Ifanothermethod(equallysuitableforflawdetection)isdesignatedforfinalopticalinspectionofthelaminatedpartunderpower,thepolarizedlightpracticewillnotberequiredforthefinalinspection.1.1Thispracticecoversastandardprocedurefordetectingflawsintheconductivecoating(heaterelement)bytheobservationofpolarizedlightpatterns.1.2Thispracticeappliestocoatingsonsurfacesofmonolithictransparenciesaswellastocoatingsimbeddedinlaminatedstructures.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesinparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.ForspecificprecautionarystatementsseeSection6.
