【摘要】:Thistestmethodcoversthedeterminationofthecoefficientoflinearthermalexpansion(CTE)forcarbonanodesandcathodesusedinthealuminumindustry,inbakedform,byuseofavitreoussilicadilatometer.Theapplicabletemperaturerangeforthistestmethodforresearchpurposesisambientto1000?C.Therecommendedmaximumusetemperatureforproductevaluationis500?C.ThistestmethodandprocedureisbasedonTestMethodE228,whichisagenericall-encompassingmethod.Specificsdictatedbythenatureofelectrodecarbonsandthepurposesforwhichtheyareusedareaddressedbythisprocedure.Electrodecarbonsinthebakedformwillonlyexhibitprimarilyreversibledimensionalchangeswhenheated.ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
