【摘要】:1.1*Scope.1.1.1Thistestmethodisintendedtoprovideameansforassessingthelethaltoxicpotencyofcombustionproductsproducedfromamaterialorproductignitedwhenexposedtoaradiantflux.1.1.2Thistestmethodhasbeendesignedtogeneratetoxicpotencydataonmaterialsandproducts(includingcomposites)foruseinfirehazardanalysis.Itisalsopermittedtobeusedtoassistintheresearchanddevelopmentofmaterialsandproducts.1.1.3Lethaltoxicpotencyvaluesassociatedwith30-minuteexposuresarepredictedusingcalculationsthatemploycombustionatmosphericanalyticaldataforcarbonmonoxide,carbondioxide,oxygen(vitiation),and,ifpresent,hydrogencyanide,hydrogenchloride,andhydrogenbromide.Thecalculationmethodisthereforelimitedtothosematerialsandproductswhosesmoketoxicitycanbeattributedtothesetoxicants.1.1.4Specimensareexposedtoaradiantheatingfluxwithanelectricsparkignition.1.1.5Specimenstestedarerepresentativeoffinishedproducts,includingcompositeandcombinationsystems.1.1.6Thisstandardisnotintendedtoaddressallsafetyissuesassociatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesandtodeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitations(especiallywithregardtotheinstitutionalcareanduseofexperimentaltestanimals)priortouse.(Forspecifichazardrequirements,seeSection6.1.)
